Hypnosis may be defined as an extremely pleasant, relaxing and day dreamy state, when the conscious mind becomes gently preoccupied and gently remote but still aware of all that is happening around it. If you experience something like this, you are in hypnosis. Philip does sometimes use conversational hypnotic techniques rather than formal hypnosis, particularly if a client is very nervous.
Who is suitable for Hypnotherapy?
Anyone can be hypnotized, but someone with an outgoing personality, a good imagination and compliant are those who will do best with this approach.
Perhaps one of the most surprising things for people to discover is that while in hypnosis you do not go to sleep and you are aware of all that is happening around you, though the depth achieved does vary from person to person, this is of no particular significance. You cannot be MADE to do anything against your will while in hypnosis.
