Mind Training PsychotherapyHypnotherapy


Normally used for easier problems such as stopping smoking, losing weight, but sometimes for things like a flying phobia or pain management. Clients are gently encouraged into a light trance and focus on the positive suggestions and imagery being offered to soak these up unconsciously, so they can be released as and when the client needs them following the session.

All these sessions are recorded and clients provided with a link to listen to the recording again at home, initially on a daily basis and then whenever they might want to. This means only one session is required to help with what the client has consulted for.

The Mind Training Programme

This approach uses a combination of Positive Psychology and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Many problems such as anxiety, panic attacks, depression for instance respond well to this psychological training course.Techniques are taught to boost confidence, self esteem and resilience.

Normally the course is completed in eight sessions. Tasks are undertaken by clients between sessions to practice what is learnt during their sessions. The programme’s success is measured via questionnaires two months after completing the programme.

I use this approach when issues from a persons past are likely causing them problems in the present. The range of problems a person can consult with vary widely, but things such as OCD, relationship difficulties, loss, low self esteem and confidence are examples of the types of things people consult for. Hypnosis is utilised with a technique known as Free Association. This is used to track back to issues causing the problem in the present. A release of ‘bottled up’ emotions, or a moment of liberating enlightenment connected to these events occurs, providing relief from their symptoms. The number of sessions varies but typically between eight and twelve sessions is normal.

Hypno-Band Weight Loss System

I am the only licenced practioner of the Hypno-Band Weight Loss System in Jersey.

The Hypnoband system is designed for those who are either clinically obese or very over weight with a body mass index (BMI) of more than 25 with no underlying emotional problems.

Over approximately two sessions, you are taken through the process of being psychologicaly prepared for life with the virtual band. The aim of the system is to convince you that your stomach is smaller and that you can only eat smaller amounts of food. The Hypnoband system is a combination of visualisation, suggestion therapy and cognitive behavioural techniques
